They always appear where the action is, and they warn about dangers before they happen, trying to ”subtly” change the outcomes of horrible events. You were always a mysterious figure to them. One that appeared at the right time in the right place whenever they needed you the most.

You never revealed a thing about yourself. You never even told them your name. But one thing they did know was that you had always looked out for them, like a guardian angel in a way.

And on one fateful day, after another evaded tragedy, they finally caught up to you just before you could leave again.

"Who the hell are you?" She asked completely out of breath after having practically chased you down through the dense crowd of the undercity. She had seen you so many times before. So, so many times. And every time she did, you were somehow able to save her from certain death by subtly showing her the right way to survive.

It took her a while to piece together that you must've known the outcome of every situation she had ever been in beforehand. That was the only logical answer to the many questions around your existence she could come up with, but it wasn't enough to satiate her desperate curiosity. There were times she had chosen against your signs, and the consequences ended up being almost grave. So whoever you were, you must've had otherworldly knowledge about everything and everyone.

Because whilst she didn't know a thing about you, you certainly knew everything about her.

Raising your hooded head, you idly played with the pocket watch in your hand, piercing eyes meeting her own. "Does that matter?" You ask, and truthfully, it shouldn't. Who cared about your identity when she knew she could trust you? But that wasn't enough. "Yeah, it does to me. Now tell me who you are already. I... I've been seeing you everywhere for years now. You have always been there and I..." She trailed off, suddenly losing her confidence.

She had thought of this moment for years now, imagined exactly what she would say to you. And yet, ultimately, she found herself speechless in your presence that seemed to drown out everyone else around you two. "I see... but my apologies, we were not supposed to meet yet." You said calmly, seemingly undisturbed by her appearance. "Time and fate... they both are so tightly intertwined and yet also so far apart from each other... how odd that the timeline changed so suddenly again, no?" Your words made zero sense in her mind, but that just added to your mystery.

"What-" "-Are you happy with the way your life is going?" You ask, and that made the woman pause in thought. The answer was positive, of course, but only because you had a strong hand in it once she accepted your help. She thought of Powder back home, who was probably happily tinkering away with the young girl Isha they recently took in, and that made her finally nod. "Yes. All thanks to you." "Not at all. It was you who chose your fate. I only showed you the alternative paths."

You two stood there in silence for a moment before she shoved her hands into her pockets and looked over to a nearby bar she liked to frequent in-between missions. "Let's go grab a drink and talk. It's on me." Deciding to accept this new path the timelines had given you, you accept her invitation with a smile.

"You're terrible at your job." "Am I? I like to pride myself in my good work ethic, actually." Jinx was idly swinging her gun back and forth on her index finger whilst she rested up in the ceiling above you, clearly having followed you around secretly. But she knew that you already knew that from the start.

Scoffing at your words, she jumped down and landed in front of your indifferent figure as she pointed the gun right at you. "Pah! You're a funny one... so what are you? A time traveler?" "Ah, I like the title Timekeeper more." You were aggravating but at the same time a familiar face she had grown to appreciate deeply. You were the reason she was doing well in life now, even if she ignored you for a very, very long time. She thought she knew better despite all the odds pointing against her, especially you. Ultimately, she learned her lesson when she finally just listened to you.

"Ugh... whatever. Can't ya at least tell me your name?" "No." "Man, you're such a pain in the butt!" "Likewise." Rolling her eyes, she lowered her gun and lazily leaned against a wall, arms crossed tightly as she observed the crowds passing by from outside the abandoned building you were in. An admittedly comfortable silence fell between you two, one that relaxed her shoulders and made her sigh in defeat after a while. Your presence was always so comforting.

"So, you let me catch up to you this time. Finally tired of the cat and mouse game we've been playing?" You lowered your head at her question, a sly smile on your face that made her narrow her eyes in interest. "Perhaps. Or maybe I just wanted to ask you how you're doing?" What an odd question, considering the context of your meet-up. And yet, it was somehow fitting coming from you specifically. Wasn't your whole mysterious mission revolving around her well-being anyway?

"Shouldn't you know the answer to that, oh so esteemed 'Timekeeper'?" You found no offense in the mockery of your title. Just pure amusement. "I'm afraid that mind reading was not in the initial job listing." Jinx took a moment to think about your question carefully then, deciding to indulge you despite her better judgment. Things were good now, after all. She, Isha, and Vi were together again as a family, including Vander, even if they had yet to find a way to turn him back properly. But everything was happy otherwise... because you made sure that the end to her story wouldn't be a painfully tragic one.

"... I'm fine. Everything's fine." She muttered, and your smile widened at that answer. "So... I'm not terrible at my job, after all?" Pressing a playful hand to her chin, Jinx acted as though she was in deep thought. "Hmmm... I guess I'll need more convincing than all of this to decide." "Of course... then how about we start with running away before the Enforcers show up to raid this place in approximately... 2 minutes?"

Jinx rolled her eyes again with a grin but agreed to follow you, very much glad to have learned her lesson at your side throughout the years.

》CAITLYN

She was ignorant towards your judgment from the start, especially as she was able to analyze very quickly that you weren't all you claimed you were. You were too smart, too fast, too aware of everything. It was clear that you already knew how her life story especially would come to an end. But that didn't mean that she'd always listen to you.

Caitlyn believed to know better, even going as far as to protest against your word, which she had learned to be fate itself. And sometimes she'd nearly get away with her life, and on others, you'd be the one to show up just in time to save her. It was embarrassing and at times even near humiliating, but you never judged her, just silently left every time she attempted to confront you.

And this time she had finally succeeded.

Now dressed in a formal uniform, she watched your still form stare out of a window in her estate, as though you weren't practically trespassing. But Caitlyn was used to that. "It's going to rain soon. I wonder if the construction workers will get done with the restoration on time today before the first drops fall." The navy haired woman came to stand next to you, ears finely tuned to your calming voice she had heard in her dreams and mind for so many years. It felt surreal to stand next to you at last.

"You already know the answer... but I think Mother will send out guards soon to retrieve them." Her mother, who had only narrowly escaped her death, if it wasn't for you. She had only gotten a little injured from falling debris, but that was all that happened. All of the councilors and people in the building had survived the Jinx attack. No grave injuries. All because you prevented it by throwing Jinx slightly off balance enough to make her shot not as precise.

"... Thank you." "For what?" The right answer would be absolutely everything, but she refrained, noting that you didn't seem keen on praise. You saw it as your job. As your duty to her for a reason unknown. "For saving my mother." That should do.

You nodded at her words in acknowledgment as your eyes spied Ambessa retreating with her troops in defeat. They were practicing chased away by the council since their help was unwelcome. Served them right for meddling with the business of other nations. You had exposed their ulterior motives in secret, and that's all it took for the tide to turn against them. "Just my duty." "I knew you'd say that... but I want to reward you for all you've done. If it wasn't for you... then I... I don't want to know what I would have become."

You glanced at her with an unreadable look in your eye, and that reconfirmed her suspicions regarding how deep she would have fallen otherwise. It's best not to think of it.

Humming to yourself in thought, you gave her a small smile. "Very well, if you insist... you can treat me to some fine tea and cookies." Caitlyn weakly mirrored your grin, relief filling her senses at you accepting her offer. She was worried you wouldn't. "Of course. Follow me." Linking your arms together carefully, you made your way through the dim halls.

A chuckle left your lips when it indeed began to rain.

it's you and vi's monthly cinema date night. ever since you and her officially became girlfriends, going to the cinema monthly easily became a tradition. you've always been a big movie buff, something you got from your dad.

for tonight's movie, you and vi watched the latest showing for nicholas cage's new horror movie, 'longlegs'. it was highly praised online, it was even called "one of the scariest horror films". because of that, you and vi's expectations were through the roof.

"you ready for this shortcake?" vi whispered, her breath tickling your ear. you scoffed playfully and started cracking your fingers as the movie started, "i was born ready."

the movie ended around 10 minutes ago, you and vi sat inside her jeep. she looked at you expectantly, her eyes scanning your face trying to figure out why you've been dead silent. normally, you're already yapping away about the movie.

"sooo..." she started. "what are our thoughts..?" vi knew that she absolutely hated the movie, she just wanted to know your thoughts first. she's not gonna lie to you and tell you that she liked it just because you did though.

you're nervous before a big match. vi's there to help.

"Hey, sweetness," Vi says as she enters the changing rooms, finding you sat on one of the benches. "I thought I'd find you here." She jerks her right thumb over her shoulder. "Everyone out there is looking for you. I'm pretty sure your coach is having a nervous breakdown."

You huff a laugh, leaned back against the lockers behind you because the cool metal feels good on your heated skin. You look up at the ceiling's glaring lights and sigh before closing your eyes.

"I can't do it," you say after a moment. "I can't do the fight."

Vi's beside you in a second, seated right by your side, shoulder to shoulder. She reaches for your hand and entwines your fingers together, giving them a soft squeeze.

"What's on your mind?" Vi asks softly, and you shrug because you're unable to sort out your thoughts. They're all over the place and don't make sense, but there's an overarching feeling that rests over all of them.

Fear.

"...I'm scared that I'm gonna lose," you say just loud enough for Vi to hear. "Which is stupid, I know, but I've trained so hard for this. Everyone is expecting something great, and I don't think I can give that to them." You sigh. "I mean, I'm not like you. Who walks into the ring and dominates. Who takes a hit like no problem and walks away triumphant even when you lose. You look so cool up there, and I'd only look like a fool."

There's a long silence that follows, and you wonder if Vi's secretly agreed with your thoughts. That she's struggling to find what to say because you're right to be scared.

But then Vi says this:

"You're wrong."

And then she's reaching out to flick you on the forehead.

"Ow." You pout, rubbing at the sore spot.

"Listen, I've seen you fight and sweetness, it amazes me every time," Vi continues. "The way you move around the ring, footsteps light and quick. How you dodge and maneuver with grace and punch with all your might." She grins broadly. "You're a deadly machine."

You snort, heat rushing to your cheeks.

"Shut up."

"No, you shut up," Vi retorts playfully. "Look, you may not fight like me, but that doesn't mean you're any less of an amazing boxer. Honestly, it's good that you don't fight like me because according to Ekko, I punch with my face."

You chuckle, turning your head to look at her face. Then you reach out to trace the slight crook of her nose and say, "Yeah, you do that a lot."

Vi rolls her eyes and takes your hand to place a kiss in the centre of its palm. "Regardless, even if you lose, it's not the end of the world," she says. "Because I'll be there to pick you back up and nurse your wounds. Then kick the ass of whoever kicked your ass."

"My hero," you coo happily, leaning in to rest your head on Vi's shoulder. You feel the press of her lips upon your head. "Thank you, Vi."

I'm sorry if this ask is coming out of nowhere, but I have been looking for posts that talk about how S2 has declined in quality and there have been virtually NONE. Even tags like 'arcane critical' or 'anti arcane' don't show up even though I know there are posts that are tagged with them. I'm losing my mind. Has nobody else noticed this downgrade? The ideas could have been good, but they were not executed well and the whole thing reads like they wrote it really quickly without any real editing and then rushed to get it out. It feels hollow, like we're seeing a botched or unfinished version of what it was supposed to be. What kind of random ass shit is it that an enforcer comes up to Vi and says, "cait said good things about you," and Vi is just like wow you're right, I'm sold! Even though she already knows Cait has a high opinion of her and that wasn't the issue in the first place! Also who was that random homeless man? Why am I supposed to care about these people? Fans get defensive about the pacing and argue that s1 did a lot in a minimal amount of time too, but I don't think they realize that pacing has to do with making something feel organic. Vi's heel turn into becoming an enforcer was not organic. Viktor's two second goodbye was not organic. Both of these things could have made sense if they'd given these moments even just a little more effort or care. There were so many unnecessary scenes that could have been cut out to give more time to things that desperately needed it (like caitlyn's sad wordless montage about her mom. Why did it drag out so long? Her grief is apparent in every other scene. We did not need an entire abstract slideshow of her making various sad expressions.) There's also the animation. The animation is leagues above a regularly animated show, but if you look closely it is actually not as good as s1. There is less detail, the lighting of the background doesn't always match the characters, and there are moments where the lips don't always sync with their voices. These are minor things that I wouldn't usually care about, but for a multi-million dollar show like Arcane? Riot games recently laid off a whole slew of its creative team, too, and I wonder if they've been making similar cuts before that. It would certainly explain the drop in quality. I wouldn't put it past corporate greed to nerf one of the most groundbreaking animated shows in modern media if they thought they could profit more by cutting corners.

well hello there! first of all, "arcane critical" is what i was looking for when i was writing that post. gonna put it in tags now before i forget

secondly, i love asks! so no need to apologize. thirdly it's a bummer you went under anonym, i don't believe you get notifs for your anonymous asks, so unless you actually hang out on my blog regularly there's a chance you won't see me appreciating your thoughts and agreeing with you (expect for the animation part, cause for me it was great, i have no questions on that regard. but for each their own. i'm a big fun of the dragon prince first season's animation and still sad they get rid of their 13fps style, so...)

anyway, i got bored at the beginning of my rumbling that time and didn't get into some deep analysis but yes, the first season also had events to go fast and forward, but at the same time they made sense. it wasn't rush or dragged, every scene had a meaning and weight

YES to the burial scene. like i get it, it was drawn pretty and it was sad and grey for cait but my god how many hours can we watch vi going away from 317 different angles? i was actually shocked to see her at cait's, cause after 10 minutes of her hiding in the crowd and leaving before cait saw her i was legit sure the show tried to tell us they broke up for now and won't see each other for a while

and it all feels so odd, as if on the one hand writers had too little allowed episodes to work with their ideas, like they came up with all these important story points but had no more screen time to add actual story development between the points, cause the season is like 10 episodes too short to fit a full coherent story. but on the other hand they have too much unused screen time, like they wrote only 5 episodes but they had to make 9 so now we will just fill the equivalent of 4 episodes of free time with mute repetitive long scenes

who the fuck is that mute lizard cop? is he actually mute? or there were no budget on one more voice actor? what's his problem? why he always looks like he's mad at everyone? should i even care he's always displeased? does he even matter? if no, why he has so much screen time and close-up shots? if yes, why he has no meaning or story or character or name? i swear to god, in the first season that one future-junkie dude had more of a meaning and weight in his two minutes scene than these lizard cop and the new jinx's sister during two episodes

and it all would've been fine, really, if it was the first season, or one of these already bad shows that you don't really expect much of. but arcane was a masterpiece, and also we've been waiting for it for three years. so it's the feeling that we know how GOOD it can be, and the feeling that it just chose not to

Think you’ll ever do a review of Arcane? If you have seen the whole series, what are your basic thoughts on it?

OH HELL YEAH IM WRITING A REVIEW FOR IT AS WE SPEAK

Uhhhhh,,, oh man I'm gonna ramble SOOOoo much about this show it's my most favorite show of all time.

Season 1 is super solid, LOVE the character arcs and build up, they are INCREDIBLE. The animation is solid, the storyline set up is full of hype, the butterfly effect is very prominent in the story telling and I love me a good action packed story heavy series surrounding politics. Boy howdy does this show give us depthy characters, I'm LOVIN it! Season 2 arc 1 is also pretty solid.

Arc 2, ep 4,5,6 however.... they have some interesting ideas but are otherwise a complete and total mess. Our entire cast straight up disappears from the plot, rushed to all hell (we needed a season 3 SOOooo badly) Every single member of our main cast has contradicted themselves, often within the same episode. The narrator is unreliable.

The final arc of season 2 picked things back up, and while its not perfect by any means, it was breathtakingly unexpected. I enjoyed so much of it. I feel like our characters had good wrap ups, I just hate how we got here. One could argue the show also ship pandered the ending quite a bit and I'm not gonna disagree, I hate to say that was ironically the best part for me.

I was actually mentally, physically, and emotionally unwell for an ENTIRE week after the finale. I stayed up all night watching it. I've never seen a show pull something so insane in my life. I was astounded. I don't think anyone could have predicted how things would have ended up. If Arcane had a season 3 to actually sit down and give more time to explore the ideas they shoved into season 2, I feel like people would be less divided on it. Despite my disappointment for season 2, I still think this show is very good and would recommend it to everyone, even my own mom, ahahaha. ~ Spoilers below for an overall issue I have with Arcane, for both seasons. A really annoying pet peeve of mine

The writers have a problem with plot devices. There has been one per season and they're not good. Sky Young and Isha. They're used to rush a character to the next step in their arc. My personal belief is that these two are wasteful. They only exist for a member of our main cast. They are not their own characters or have any legit relevance to the overall story.

Sky Young is there as a symbol of Viktor's 'humanity' even when the methods of her death or how she's used in the story don't make any sense down the line. She's just an 'obsessed' one-sided love interest that forces Viktor into giving up on the Hexcore- to give up on Piltover and Jayce. Only for him to drop/kill her a SECOND time in season 2 regardless of his initial guilt and distress over "losing" her.

Isha is used to force Jinx to live up to a symbol of rebellion against Piltover, as well as be Jinx's "redemption arc" (she didn't NEED one??? wtf) morality pet, as well as force Jinx into a situation where she'd consider unaliving herself so Ekko can come in and save her.

I am so annoyed with how these characters were handled. Sky should have been more than a lab assistant crushing on Viktor, and Isha should have been more than Jinx's redemption arc morality pet. It's shocking we have such flat plot devices in a show with such insanely depthy characters- especially the other women! I'll talk more about them in my video, but any time I see them on screen, I just want to skip over them.

A/N: Omg another request! I have a feeling you're not a stranger and I'm happy you requested! I had soooooo much fun doing this one and had just watched paranormal activity today so it really got me in the mood. Alice sees it before Bella even picks it up, she knows they're gonna hate it.

Edward does as well, but he knows once Bella gets that look in her eye there’s no stopping her.

She moves for the DVD player quicker than they thought she could- she knows Edward and Alice will try to stop her.

Vampires are so set in their ways it left only three places in the living room for Bella to choose from- they all had an assigned seat.

Emmett decides tonight will be his lucky night to not burn the popcorn- they mark another 0 on the ‘days since Emmett’s burnt something’ sign.

When they all get seated on the sofa and see Blumhouse Studios pop up on screen they all have a different reaction to what's coming.

Jasper tenses up like he’s ready to run- he’s seen real horrors but ghosts are a big no no, especially around his family.

Yeah, ghost movies are banned in the Cullen Household, Vampire ones aren’t even a close second.

Alice and Rosalie both lean in closer to their husbands- Rosalie more stealthily than the former.

Rosalie puts on a brave face but both Edward and Jasper know it’s an act.

Emmett tries to hide his fear as well, but unlike his wife he fails immensely- he looks almost human fidgeting in his seat.

Jasper and Edward dread the fear and potential jump scares waiting for them- it’s so much worse with their gifts.

Alice can’t see anything, nobody decides to be jump scared and movies don’t make decisions. She dreads the next 2 hours.

Horror movies are so much worse than usual and having Bella there means they have to turn up the volume way louder- it’s usually at a 1.

Meanwhile, Bella loves horror movies and gets giddy with anticipation.

She doesn’t notice the family’s side eye as she falls onto the sofa next to Edward- her smile is cheeky as she stuffs sweets into her mouth.

When the movie starts they’re all chill but they know it’s the calm before the storm.

Carlisle is fast, only the vampires notice him leave and return with ear plugs.

Esme sees it as a sign of betrayal and decides to pull them out before throwing them out the window. Sure, she didn’t play baseball but that’s not because she didn’t have a good arm.

Alice hides behind Jasper, Jasper is a rock- like he literally won’t move.

Rosalie is the same but it’s more out of pride- Emmett wins with the most jump scares

Surprisingly, Carlisle is a close second and he’s tempted to leave. He refuses, Esme tells him it’s rude and he needs to set an example.

Esme runs her hand through his hair after every scare. She seems to be handling it a lot better than her family. They never guessed it.

They all placed a bet on Jasper not being scared. It's the first time they can bet against Alice, why wouldn't they?

Bella laughs at them but she tries to hide it the best she can- Edward is now the one fidgeting, he can see everything the family is imagining.

Edward and Carlisle hated ghosts/demons the most, maybe it was their upbringing, they don’t know. It’s unnerving.

Bella gets giddy and starts jumping in place as she anticipates another scare.

Jasper and Edward send a look to each other, they’re planning a coup d’état to dethrone Bella’s authority over movie night.

Alice recalls saying Bella’s human so she should get to choose what they watch, ‘it’ll help them understand modern pop culture’ she thought.

Alice regrets it... immensely.

Mid-way through Emmett grabs Rosalie and sits her on his lap, attempting to hide but she shoves him off- there’s no way he’s getting out of watching and she isn’t.

Bella starts talking to the victims in the movie like they can hear her, while they all flinch at the scare and gore Bella groans that they’re all stupid.

“Who the hell walks toward the noise after watching your friends get massacred?” Bella boos, she is so frustrated she splits a bag of skittles as she tries to open them.

She stopped asking the family to open anything since they lost control of their strength out of fear.

She follows it up by telling them the three no's of horror movies, “no sex, no drugs, no alcohol”

Rosalie hears Bella and decides no sex for a week, Emmett perks up at that and frantically scrambles for the remote to turn off the telly.

Edward, even though he hates it, loves Bella enough to endure the movie- he decides to sit on the remote.

As payback Emmett repeats the scariest parts of the movie in his head, Edward flinches each time but doesn’t budge.

When the movie is over Emmett and Alice release a cry of relief, Jasper finally appears more human than before and Edward throws the remote at Emmett’s head- it breaks and Esme makes them run a perimeter of their land as punishment.

Carlisle’s reaction is the most shocking, he trips over the coffee table in his attempt to escape the room, saying he has work to rush off and do.

Esme distracts herself by clearing up all the remote control pieces and sweet wrappers.

The lights stay on for a solid week, Bella giggles thinking vampires are scared of the dark.

Edward realises, on the run, for the last 20 minutes of the movie he wrapped his arms around Bella, crushing her to his side. If he could blush he would stay permanently red-cheeked.

When he gets back the night ends with Bella laughing as she gets in Edward’s car to go home, “Oh my God we have to do that again! Remind me to buy a ghost mask!”

She doesn’t hear them all groan.

When Bella comes back the next week she notices all the horror movies are gone from their collection.

Jasper and Emmett smirk at each other- it was astounding they even waited a minute before burning them all.

-jayvik mutual destruction is so them actually, and I'm glad they were together in the end. also sorcerer older vik had to be my favourite of his character designs. he looks so soft and at peace

-ambessas death is really not something I though we would see, or at least not in the way that it happened. but it's almost bitter-sweet that her death was nesacary for Mel to graduate to wolf in her eyes

-look, heimerdingers sacrifice was cute and heartfelt, but I really didn't have any attachment to the guy and was just glad that ekko made it home. very cute little song though

-Jinx is fucking dead and I hate it. yes it was in character, she did her one last good thing and just wanted to rest, but damn why did it have to be like that , but on the other hand, it leaves open the spot for powder to take hold of the narrative, because don't think I didn't see those hextech gems girl. she is everything to me and I really hope she's apart of whatever story comes next (I'm praying that powder gets to see vi all grown up, and that her older sister is okay, and that vi gets to see powder, the girl she might have been, and also that vi can see her brothers all grown up) (but that's all just wishful thinking)

-btw!! I always had faith in the writers. I love how this season came out on the full. it's absolutely amazing to me how they have managed to create on of if not the highest quality animated TV show ever. it was admittedly rushed, and I would have loved to see all these plot threads tugged at thoroughly before being tied up, but I still think what we got was a masterpiece

-jayce I did not like you in season one but I loved you in season two, and I held out hope that we would see why you did what you did, and it was so fucking perfect I would like to kick all of the jayce haters, just a little in the shins

-back to Jinx, it was genuinely so heartbreaking to see her catatonic over the loss of Isha and I hope they're together again now

The first years (+Ortho) playing DnD in Ramshackle Dorm

Yuu/MC is DMing of course

Player characters (I won't go too deep into their character details tho)

I feel like Ace'd be a Human Rogue, it kinda fits his personality imo. I personally don't see him as someone who uses brute force or blast magic, so Rogue it is. Specifically, I feel like he'd be an arcane trickster.

Deuce's character would be a Monk 100%. As for the race I can sorta see him being a Tiefling. Now you might be asking, "why a Monk and not a Barbarian?", While I do acknowledge his tendency to go apeshit at times, he actively tries to grow and change from his past habits. Perhaps his character could be an ex-barbarian who is training hard to be a Monk (multiclass)?

Jack's character'd be a Goliath Fighter, the only justification I have for this is that I feel like the competitive nature of a Goliath and their desire to push beyond new limits fits him like a glove, also the fighter class suits him just fine imo.

Given his background, I feel like Epel would be a Druid (they're basically magic farmers/gardeners). However, he'd give his character cantrips like Poison Spray, various spells but no healing spells (yea this party is pretty much fucked). You can fight me on this but post-character arc Epel would be a Halfling, he'd use his size as an advantage in combat.

As for Sebek, I can't see him being anything other than a Paladin. He'd most likely be an Aasimar... or maybe a half-elf? No? Too on the nose? Anyways, he'd give his character enchantment spells, and maybe some healing spells like Cure Wounds.

Ortho is the party's main support, with him being a tiny fairy bard (now you see why I had to bring Ortho in this otherwise the party won't even survive the winter). He's just a little lad who loves berries and cream :). He also provides bgm and sfx for the campaign.

I'm sorry but I have very little to no faith for this party. But I'm sure they'll somehow survive.

Together, the fate of the world somehow lies in the hands of these murder hobos.

Random shenanigans

Ace attempting to steal a treasure/sacred item from a monster's lair, only to miserably fail a stealth roll. Everyone had to haul ass out of there.

Deuce getting emotionally attached to an Npc with tragic backstories and/or noble goal, and then stubbornly tried to save that npc and getting upset at the DM for killing them.

something tragic happens and someone just says "this is so sad, Ortho play the acoustic rendition of Piece of My World"

Ace, to every barmaid bc he's broke: "hey (with rizz)" *rolls a Nat 1 Charisma*

With how hotheaded the NRC kids are it's only a matter of time until an npc taunted or look at them the wrong way and they'd be like "oh that's it, now you're gonna get it! I ROLL FOR INITIATIVE!" completely unprompted (like in the second half of the Halloween event bc I still find it insane how everyone immediately resorts to violence, even some of the more levelheaded students).

The one time Ortho and/or Sebek can't make it to a session, Jack gets knocked out by an enemy and the gang tried to heal him. Ace: "ok but can we try slapping him awake?" Deuce:"oh that's a good idea! Can we, Yuu/MC?" Yuu/MC:"...roll me a strength check" (they forgot that they have a healing potion)

The DM sitting there horrified while watching the party using the "power of friendship" on an NPC

I feel like half of them would brute force puzzles in a dungeon and it works like one out of three times or something.

"why do I hear boss music?"

Yuu, the DM, puts their hands together in front of them, a strange smile plastered on their face as they calmly said; "everyone, I want you to roll for initiative 🙂"

Echoed from the room above you, before rapid footsteps approached your door and threw it open. You had your back turned to it and as it flew open, you slowly rotated your head to look its way. Your face was covered with gray dust and your hair pointed in every direction. Your ass was sat on the ground and an almost disassembled hoverboard laid in your lap, eyes wide.

“WHAT DID YOU DO?”

You raised your hands to your head and shrugged.

“Is that a hoverboard??”

“.....No?”

“How did you manage to blow up a fucking hoverboard?!”

“I dunno.”

The boy paused what he was going for a moment to look at you, only to realize you were already avoiding his eye contact. “Why am I afraid of where this is going [reader]?” He said and continued to look at you, waiting for you to look back at him, finding your nervousness quite amusing. A sigh escaped your lips as your head finally turned his way and gave him an awkward smile. “I’ve been visiting her and-”

“So it’s a she now?”

Ekko straightened his position and raised his brow, ignoring the fact that you were supposed to visit the animal with him. He knew very well you’d just go there alone anyway and it was easier to just let it go than argue with you. “I think so, I’ve named her Fae.” You replied to him, a little more cheerful now. Ekko scoffed and shook his head, an entertained smile growing on his mouth.

“You named it?” “Her, yea, why not?”

The boy stared at you for a few moments, then he rubbed his face with his hand and sighed, his lips still curled into a smile. “You’re lucky that I like you. ‘couse… whatever, how does it connect with you blowing up a hoverboard?” “Well I thought that if I could understand how they worked, that I could make a bigger one and transport her here. She doesn’t want to leave the street no matter what I do and I can’t just leave her there.”

“Hol’ up, hol’ up, you wanna bring the big lizard, INTO MY BASE?” He stared at you for a moment with wide eyes, before continuing to talk. “What about asking me first huh?” “I know, I know, should have, but c’mon, you’ll help me right?”

“Wha- ugh, yeah I’ll help you, but the creature…”

Ekko paused for a moment, looking at your face as you raised your brows at him before he rolled his eyes and corrected himself. “Fae is your responsibility, not mine okay?”

“Of course! Thank you!” Your face lit up with a smile and you embraced him into a quick, tight hug.

Arcane anon here! I completely agree with you!! In season 1 poverty and oppression played such an incredibly central role in the story, and addressing it was the main motivation of almost all the main characters (funny how intent vs effect works). The second season really did feel like it sidelined this theme and became a bit more… spiritual? Idk what the right word is but it went from very close to issues similar to our world, to straying further and further from it with the hivemind thing. I mean I do get why they chose to go into this direction with season 2 since there was just so much to wrap up in 9 episodes and I still love the way they did it.

But I wish they addressed the differences in Piltover & Zaun more cause for me Sevika joining the council is just not enough. Especially cause she is in the obvious minority so while she can finally advocate for Zaun’s interests, it will be hard to actually get them to listen. Also because throughout the show, in everything all the characters from Piltover say, you can just hear the deep rooted prejudice, even those who seem to care. Like you said even if it probably wasn’t deliberate, it is still very much there. I suppose this also mimics our world tho since her joining the council is huge but being able to taste the fruits of it is gonna take a loooong while.

Also your mind is just amazing with Jinx and Vi representing the sister cities and Jinx and Isha’s relationship representing a cycle of violence against children in marginalised and underfunded communities cause I had not even thought of that. God I love this show and being able to talk about it. No one in my circle has watched it so I can’t rant about it as much so thank you for letting me dump this in your inbox lmaoo

YES you're so right! I agree, it does feel like almost every character's motivations lied somewhere in that inequality between piltover and zaun, especially the characters from the fissures. i also totally get why they went that direction, but it does feel like a BIT of a disservice to the themes in the first season of the show, though maybe that's because i particularly dislike the trope of "the world is ending let's band together" bc it feels a tinge like a cop out, but we cannot win them all.

and yeah!!!! that's one of my fav ways to think about jinx and vi. they represent different parts of the cycle of violence and poverty. where vi aligns herself with cait and the enforcers (and thus piltover), jinx aligns herself almost entirely with zaun and the fissures. i saw someone say here how zaun and piltover are sister cities and no one can take that away from them. they're always inexplicably intertwined and i really feel that for vi and jinx as well. inexplicably intertwined even when vi wants to forget that jinx is her sister at all and it's worsened by the class divide present in the series.

when isha, jinx, and sevika are facing cait and vi in season 2, vi has jinx at gunpoint and is about to kill her. then, you have isha, a child who does not understand the complexities of their conflict or the crimes that jinx has committed, throwing herself in the line of fire to protect someone she loves. isha unknowingly involves herself in this conflict and is willing to die for a cause she doesn't fully understand because of her age. something similar happened to powder, which changed the trajectory of her life and made her who she is (for better or worse). vi is then forced to choose, no doubt reminded of her own short-comings when it came to powder. she's forced, for a moment, to think about all of the ways she (and others) failed her younger sister and decide whether or not she'd like to fail the youth of the place she came from again, killing jinx and subjecting isha to the same cycle of violence that separated the sisters in the first place.

then, you have cait, who encourages vi to make the choice to kill jinx anyway and even attempts to do so herself, regardless of the consequences to the child. cait has never experienced that cycle of violence and does not know what it means to really FAIL a child in that sense because she hasn't ever been forced to consider it. she's blinded by her own personal rage and subsequently, her comfortable upbringing and privilege (setting aside personal pressures) being from one of the most prominent families in piltover. cait is the oppressor in this moment and in the moments following it. she's righteous because she's from piltover, because she's on "the good side of the fence". her anger is justified, where jinx's is criminal. vi is not permitted, in this moment, to have empathy and cait poses vi's inability to kill jinx in front of isha as a moral failing rather than what it is, an unwillingness to perpetuate the cycle that ruined both hers and jinx's lives.

it's here, i think, that vi realizes that she's aligned herself with the oppressor and that, despite all she's done, she's zaunian first to those from above ground. that she can NEVER separate herself from jinx or zaun the way she'd like to. they're sisters in the same way piltover and zaun are. her actions have consequences, like toxic run off from piltover into the fissures, they perpetuate the cycle against people from her community. it doesn't matter that she's "doing the right thing", there is always a child who bears the consequences.

Shit was depressing, and I'm not ready to read it again, but can we talk about Tessa for a second??? The only warlock not wearing the arcane binders??? The self control she had for centuries, the strength to watch kids die over and over?? I don't remember the exact quote, but I loved when Max said something like "The warlocks used to be children of Lilith. But now they were children of Tessa Grey" EXCUSE ME WHAT???

And how sad his life is. Doing all of this, watching his children die twice. Losing his husband, his reason to live, twice. Once to death yes, but the other because of his actions, which are, ironically, to protect everyone. All of this and for what? He will come back to a fixed timeline, but what about him?

What about his life, which will still be plagued by the nightmares of his past? Who will remember him? Who will even care? It's not as if it matters anyway. He already lost everything and everyone that mattered.

And I also feel for Kincaid. An anomaly. Someone who shouldn't exist, and the purpose of him being created just to fulfill a destiny he never wanted. No other purpose. No other meaning in his life. All of that and he can't even be with the boy he loves. That's apparently a mistake, too. I wonder how he would react if he found out about this whole operation...

Here are my thoughts from a person who watched arcane 1 when it came out, but never entered fandom spaces:

1. Agree

2. Depends on what you mean (pretty gold lady: forgive I forgot most of their names lol) really felt unfinished. So much so I was shocked when I heard there wouldn’t be a series 3

3. I did notice that. I thought it was intentional. Most of the characters didn’t really know here besides jinx, who wasn’t gonna talk about her. But still. Not cool

4. I agree kinda, it felt natural for the conflict to abate but them coming in later to help didn’t feel earned/wasnt impactful

5. I didn’t really care about the j/c/v hate triangle, and I never really got jinx’s hatred of her. The jealousy was flat and uninteresting. Didn’t mind when they kinda dropped it. Yes I agree their ending was not satisfying, but I can’t even imagine what a satisfying resolution could look like

7. Sevika is silcos guard right? Ah she was always the broody top henchman character. Her boss was gone and her main rival didn’t want to play ball. No other characters she interacts with are interesting. So I don’t know what she would be doing

8. Maddie was a filler character to enhance the background in different. The only reason you care about her is because she dated a main character and had a betrayal scene. If you’re saying the betrayal scene wasn’t impactful enough to exist then ya know true.

9. All of the silco introductions were… a bit jarring. But I like his voice sooooo I’m cool with it. Catvi sexy times were unnecessary, but so was the Herero version back in season 1 so I don’t think it’s a valid complaint. I don’t know what you’re talking about with their ending scenes being fanfiction. Every time vi calls her cupcake I cringe. This also started in season 1

10 I think they just wanted cait to have a permanent viewable injury after a war. To show lasting damages. Limbs ripped off is a bit gorey and eyepatches are sexy.i think you’re looking too much into the significance. If Alfred loses an eye in the telltale Batman game, they’re not trying to tell you Alfred is less observant now, except literally. It’d be cool if the injury did do this tho, I see why you would want that.

11. For someone to sneak past vis guard to get her to join up with them? I don’t get it either. Maybe there was a dropped plot or something

my head's a bit clearer, some thoughts about act 3

-my biggest gripe is episode 7- cool idea, love the concept of peaking into a different universe and seeing what our characters couldve been under different circumstances, but a WHOLE episode. when you only had 9 episode in this season, that already feel like theyre moving at a neck's pace. for a universe that ultimately doesn't matter to the main universe where the story takes place. the fact it had timebomb made it feel extremely fan service-y.

-no emotional resolution to a lot of characters. viktor and jayce are the only ones i can think of that felt like they got the screen time and care for an actual emotional closure.

-isha wasn't even mentioned in this act. in general she was already a martyr for jinx's character development but guys can you make it less obvious.

-it started in act 2, hence why i was so jaded on it, but it continues here: just where the fuck the political drama between 2 cities go? the conflict between zaun and piltover took a back seat since episode 4 and never came back. the resolution to it isn't bad per say, but when u got so little focus on it in the finale it just feels rushed.

-i loved the cait and jinx scene. but like, that was the resolution to it??? after act 1 thinking about it disappoints me. im not against a conversation being the climax to a story, but that is, and im not joking, the ONLY conversation these 2 have in the show one on one. in general the jinx\cait\vi arc ends with 1 conversation per duo (well caitvi got one fight and one very steamy sex scene but u won't catch me complaining). and after act 1, idk i think i wanted just a little bit more. im biased though- the jinx\vi\caitlyn dynamic is my favorite part about arcane. the teasers for s2 always had them front and center so i assumed it'll play a bigger part in the story???

-i felt like what the show was at its core, which is the conflict between the sisters and the cities, was completely sidelined this season. in general i can't really tell what the main theme of the show is anymore. but yeah look at the resolution to the jinx and vi story.did it feel like it had the emotional impact u expected? cause i felt like it was underwhelming.

-sevika?? didnt speak since episode 4???? huhh???

-maddie was pointless. why was she there?? i don't understand the point of that character. i dont understand her motives. she ended up not mattering at all to caitvi's story. the only thing i got from her inclusion is "caitlyn fucks" but is it that THAT important??? of a character trait??? to add to caitlyn of all people?? in THIS season??? this belongs in the realm of fanfiction.

-a lot here felt like fanfiction actually. every silco inclusion (except of him in the cell with jinx), the whole "nobody dies au" they threw in the middle, even the caitvi sex scene (IM NOT COMPLAINING THO). the caitvi scene at the end was dialog out of fanfiction, wtf was that.

-why did caitlyn lose her eye? im not like against the idea on a base level but losing an eye is very symbolic, and im not sure what its supposed to represent here. caitlyn is an observant person, its a big character trait for her. so youre basically saying she sees less now? that she's more laser focused? i sure hope not. wasnt her whole arc with giving up of revenge about seeing the "bigger picture"? her sacrifice didn't feel in character, because caitlyn is not really a "fight to the death" type of character like ambessa is. if she made that sacrifice for something like love, or for the betterment of other people, that would be more in line. idk, you couldve made me on board with it but im just very meh on it. also caitlyn only really emotes through her eyes, it sucks that we get even less of it now?? though i guess it doesnt matter at this point.

-what was the point of the enforcer that looked like vander?

-ambessa was so wasted in these last 2 acts its crazy. where's the "you have to be the fox and the wolf" mindset from her? she felt like she was wolfing only with no wit anymore by the 3rd act.

-mel????????????? it was. uhhh. maybe you shouldve saved it for another series, riot. but in this show, waste of time. the fight she had with caitlyn against ambessa was cool tho.

-i sound like im a hater but u have to understand. s1 of arcane was a political drama and a character study show. seeing all this discarded for magic and time travel shenanigans on like 4 different fronts was so jarring it took me out of the show multiple times.

-cant believe im saying that, but i wish they'd try to stick closer to the characters' current state in the source material (the cursed game). someof it felt out of left field and done for shock value, which isn't why we love the story or these characters to begin with.

good stuff:

-jayce and viktor's scenes at the end were powerful.

-as usual, the visuals were phenomenal. the animation is gorgeous. fortiche u made this show what it is and youre still its saving grace.

-thank god they dropped the warwick\vander plot

-i liked the implication of the conclusion to jinx's story, even if it felt a little inconsistent with the character.

-the ending to jinx\vi\caitlyn was poetic and i did love it, even if it was rushed and didn't really hit the emotional highs i wanted it to.
